For this week's edition of Tee Thursdays, we are featuring the greatness that is UNDRCRWN. They have been out for awhile and I know all of us at The Press Play Show have a bunch of their stuff in our closets.

We got the opportunity to learn more about the brand from speaking with UNDRCRWN's Kari Cruz and Creative Director, Dustin Canalin.

How did UNDRCRWN start?

UNDRCRWN started out of the need for a lifestyle brand that resonated with sports. After big corporate design roles, Founder & Creative Director- Dustin Canalin- noticed that the big companies were not as close to the market, and the products that they were producing didn't resonate with the public as much as they could.

"I've always had a different point of view from what was going on in the market. There was always something missing from my wardrobe. I knew I could create products that had a more intimate connection to people like me - people that grew up appreciating the style and flavor of sports apparel. As I got older the products were not up to the quality or detail standards that I appreciated from the bigger fashion companies. I felt with my experience in both markets I would be able to create a unique point of view of sports fashion."- Dustin Canalin

What seperates UNDRCRWN from other streetwear brands?

UNDRCRWN looks at design first. Not that other companies don't, but we're more concerned with creating unique and innovative product and less about following or capitalizing on trends.We strive to create classic product with the UNDRCRWN twist. We believe that You should be able to wear our product today, tomorrow or in 5 years.

For someone who may not be up on UNDRCRWN, how would you describe the look?

We combine humor, style, and sport in our pieces. UNDRCRWN apparel is simple, but there is a lot of thought that goes into their subtle/hidden details.

"We try to make sure that there is a lot of detail in the garments. For example- You may not notice that your jacket has a gold satin pocket lining, or your hoodie has wooden buttons, or that the labels honor historical basketball figures. They are the types of pieces that should be experienced in order to fully appreciate them."- Dustin Canalin

I see Asher Roth in advertisements, how did that come together?

Asher is an underdog that is standing by his skill. He is an individual and he's not going to let the industry or anyone tell him who he needs to be. That is what UNDRCRWN believes in. He was the perfect collaborator to demonstrate the ethos of the brand.
