We got the opportunity to learn more about the brand from speaking with UNDRCRWN's Kari Cruz and Creative Director, Dustin Canalin.

How did UNDRCRWN start?

UNDRCRWN started out of the need for a lifestyle brand that resonated with sports. After big corporate design roles, Founder & Creative Director- Dustin Canalin- noticed that the big companies were not as close to the market, and the products that they were producing didn't resonate with the public as much as they could.

"I've always had a different point of view from what was going on in the market. There was always something missing from my wardrobe. I knew I could create products that had a more intimate connection to people like me - people that grew up appreciating the style and flavor of sports apparel. As I got older the products were not up to the quality or detail standards that I appreciated from the bigger fashion companies. I felt with my experience in both markets I would be able to create a unique point of view of sports fashion."- Dustin Canalin

What seperates UNDRCRWN from other streetwear brands?

UNDRCRWN looks at design first. Not that other companies don't, but we're more concerned with creating unique and innovative product and less about following or capitalizing on trends.We strive to create classic product with the UNDRCRWN twist. At the heart of everything you do is a genuine love of Hip Hop. Where did that love come from?

Yeah. I was always in love with Hip Hop from the day that I was exposed to it. The fortunate thing about it never dims. That light never dims. That fire never weakens. It just continues to grow and blaze on from me internally. The more that the fire burns the more that I want to continue to set it in any way that I possible can. Whether its on somebody else’s record or whether its on stage, whether its on my own records I always want to be able to show the people who I feel.

Black Thought is not just one of the best-named MCs in hip-hop history, he’s one of the best. As the front man of The Roots—Jimmy Fallon’s new house band for his late-night talk show—Black Thought is both a rapper’s rapper and an intellectual’s rapper, who doesn’t brag about the ghetto and never has to say how tough he is. He has a deliciously deep and steely voice, a tremendous rhythmic sensibility, and a pen that delivers furious flurries of rhymes about everything—politics, women, language, whatever. He’s got a personal style that’s as serious as a heart attack—he evinces that there’s-no-smiling-in-hip-hop thing, as if he’s not here to be loved by you, but instead here to slay you with his skill, take your respect, and leave.

Over the years, Black Thought, born Tariq Trotter, has done very few interviews—preferring, he says, to let his rhyming speak for him. But as The Roots will appear every night on Jimmy Fallon, he’s growing a little more amenable. I pulled him aside during a band rehearsal in a rehearsal space in Manhattan one day, found a tiny room, and talked to him about some of the science behind being an MC.

Who are the MCs you most closely studied and learned something from?

Kool G Rap. Big Daddy Kane. Rakim. KRS-One.

What have you learned from them?

From G Rap, I learned not to be pigeon held as regards to my vocabulary. The young Kool G Rap, when he was the cool genius of rap, it was really about the genius part and the fact that his lexicon was crazy.

The Foreign Exchange performed at Sirius XM

This afternoon The Foreign Exchange came to the Sirius XM studios in DC for a special in studio performance. It was put together by KB + Doc from Subsoniq and will air on Hip-Hop Nation in the near future. They performed for probably an hour and it was real intimate with only about thirty people in the audience. It was my first time seeing them live and they really put on an incredible show. Phonte is a triple threat; we know he can rap and sing, but dude is a real stand up comedian. He was killing it with the jokes, you'll see when the performance airs.

Conan O'Brien may have left "Late Night" for good, but a piece of the show's dynasty can live on forever in your home.

A Queens nonprofit agency is selling memorabilia from the set of O'Brien's "Late Night" NBC program, including backdrops, carpet and various props used on-air, the New York Daily News reported.

Astoria-based Build it Green! toted truckloads of junk from O'Brien's set at 30 Rockefeller Plaza when he left the show last week to take over Jay Leno's spot on "The Tonight Show" in Los Angeles.

Platforms that backup band the Max Weinberg 7 played on are for sale at the Queens warehouse for $200 each, while a fake brick wall will run buyers $40.

Weirder stuff from O'Brien's silly sketches is on sale, too -- for a small fee, you can own a pair of hockey helmets with upside-down baby dolls attached or a spinning, four-foot wide Lazy Susan.

EW has learned exclusively that the four stars of NBC's long-running comedy -- Jerry Seinfeld, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jason Alexander, and Michael Richards -- will be featured in a multiple-episode story arc on HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm this fall. HOW DID YOU GET SIGNED TO MYSPACE RECORDS?

A few years back in Hollywood, I met Quddus (of MTV's TRL) through our mutual friend, Hill Harper. We kept in contact and eventually, I recorded my single 'Complicated' and started shopping the project. Meanwhile, Quddus became an A&R consultant over at MySpace Records and the rest is history! I liked that it was a new label that had this internet power behind it and still felt small and family like.

HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH THE CONCEPT FOR THIS MIXTAPE?

Well...we wanted to do something different. A lot of artists are putting out free mixtapes over the internet but not alot of R&B artists, mostly rappers. We did a mixtape back in September that did really well and we decided to do a new one, where the mixtape songs actually told a story. So in the download of the mixtape, you can get the songs and a short film to really break it down. I don't think anyone has actually done this before. It reminds you of back in the day when a few artists put these video movies out though.

YOU FLIPPED A COUPLE KANYE SONGS ON HERE, SO OBVIOUSLY KANYE IS AN INFLUENCE OF SOME SORT, WHAT OTHER ARTISTS ARE ON YOUR RADAR?

Yeah...I'm a huge fan of Kanye. Love old school Donny Hathaway and Stevie. But I also like alternative bands like ColdPlay and Radiohead. And then of course, singers like India Arie and Lauryn Hill. They've all really inspired me and make my music what it is.

I KNOW YOU DID SOMETHING ON JAZMINE SULLIVAN'S NEW ALBUM, WHAT EXACTLY DID YOU DO FOR IT?

Yeah, I actually got on her album by accident. I had written a song called "Baby Get Back", wrote the instrumental part and passed it on to a local production team. That is pretty much the process I go through with all the songs I write. Anyways, Jazmine ended up hearing the track and wrote to it right away. All of the sudden, I get a call like..."Remember that song you made...yeah...ummm...Jazmine just killed it"...ha. I've always been a fan of hers so I was down. Its the track called 'One Night Stand'.

I HEARD THAT YOUR GRANDFATHER PLAYED FOR JAMES BROWN, WAS IT A FORGONE CONCLUSION THAT YOU WOULD GO INTO MUSIC?

Yeah, music has definitely always been around. My grandfather was a dope guitarist and was a studio musician for Kings Records in Cincinnati. Even my grandmother was a touring singer and traveled all throughout Canada and the east coast so it was definitely engrained in me at an early age. I didn't always think I would be a 'singer' though. I went to Morehouse in the ATL and planned on getting a normal corporate job. I moved to New York to be a consultant but I started feeling trapped and unfulfilled. I hated the routine of a 9 to 5. That's when the real urge came to me to just drop everything and pursue my music.

How did the idea of BLOC28 come about?

The idea for BLOC28 started about 3 years ago. We thought it would be interesting to work with artists experienced in non-traditional media like murals, graffiti, and street art. It started as just a few graphics, but it was soon developed into its own program. We knew there were artists out there that were inspired by Disney characters as kids, so we wanted to see how Mickey could be reinterpreted.

I know Mick has been wearing Kidrobot for a while now, and since we recently started getting it in at Motivation it is rising to the top of my list of favorite brands. The line is based on the artist Kidrobot's (and his friends) art and popular limited edition vinyl toys and in case you didnt know. Long Beach's Blu: 'I’m not going to save hip-hop. Hip-hop is safe.'

Long Beach-based rapper Blu has released two albums in the last year, "The Piece Talks" with Ta'Raach in a project they dubbed C.R.A.C., and "Johnson & Jonson" with producer Mainframe, but it's "Below the Heavens," released in 2007 through Sound in Color and produced by Exile, that first put Inglewood native John Barnes on the map.

Blu, who will perform Sunday at the Blue Cafe in Long Beach, recently signed with Sire Records, owned by Warner Music Group. His manager Jonathan Kim said about the move to the major, “This is one step further to where we would like to see Blu’s career end up." He added that Blu’s working on an album slated for a fall release.

Critics have praised Blu, 25, for his storytelling approach, such as “In Remembrance of Me” where he says, “We pushing whips/now we used to be whipped/rocking chains when we used to be in 'em/still complaining that we victims of the system.”

He also pokes fun at the materialistic, gangsta persona that defines mainstream hip-hop without sounding self-righteous. In “My World Is...," he says, “Females I don’t got ’em/but get ’em with no problem/and I don’t pack stadiums yet I still rock ’em."

After 120 performances in 2008, Blu appeared on the January cover of XXL as an emerging artist. Blu recently spoke with Pop & Hiss about his success so far:

How would you sum up your career so far?

Things are going great. I’ve had good public reception on my first three albums. I’m getting a wide range of mass appeal. The success of the records have been different, but the critical acclaim has been great. I’m passionate about my work, and what inspires my work keeps me passionate. I try to stay inspired.

You're asking yourself, "Wait, how can a dude making $8-10 million a year live paycheck to paycheck?" Easy. First, he's only banking 40 percent once the IRS and agents are done with him. Second, he's probably overpaying for multiple houses and luxury cars just to keep up with everyone else. Third, he's buying expensive clothes and dinners, chartering planes, buying expensive TVs, going to casinos, and paying for friends and family at every turn. Fourth, there's a decent chance he's supporting a bunch of people back home -- family and extended family -- and not just that, but he might have gotten roped into funding at least one dumb "investment" by a loser family member. ("Uncle Lenny, I thought you told me this nightclub couldn't miss?") Fifth, he is, um, "dating" frequently -- even if he's married -- and if you "date" frequently, mistakes might happen that lead to hospital bills and child support payments. (If you catch my drift.) And sixth, he's not adding these numbers up in his head because he's thinking, "I don't need to worry about money, I'm making $10 mil a year!

Fox has ordered two more seasons of "The Simpsons" that will make the animated hit the longest-running series in primetime TV history.

The 44-episode pickup will bring the show to a whopping 493 episodes.

"Gunsmoke" has held the record as the longest-running series and was on the air for 20 years (airing on CBS from 1955 to 1975 with 635 episodes). "The Simpsons" and NBC's "Law & Order" have been closing in on the Western classic, with Fox's comedy tying "Gunsmoke" this year and "Order" currently airing its 19th season.
